Grand Rapids Civic Theatre presents: Our Town

By: Brittney Schering

As compelling today as it was when first performed in 1938, Our Town is an American classic that celebrates the beauty of life as it is played out against a simplistic backdrop of daily rituals.

Often called the greatest American play ever written, the story is small town, Grover's Corners, told in three acts: "Daily Life," "Love and Marriage," and "Death and Eternity." The timelessness of Our Town provides the audience with a deeply moving, universal glimpse into the concerns of all humankind.

The event will be held at 30 N. Division Ave. in Grand Rapids on Friday, Oct. 15 through Saturday, Oct. 30. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday evenings, with matinee shows on Sundays. Tickets range from $4 to $25.

The cast consists of: Dave Benson, Jerry Borths, Sherryl Despres, Matt Dixon, Frances Gentile, Chelsea Herrema, Alec Juarez, Teri Kuhlman, Joe LaChapelle, Jon March, Hannah Melton, Larry Melton, Todd Osbeck, Karan Petkus, Michael Phelps, Mike Roberts, Kitty Slasinski, Alex Steinbrenner, Elly Stevens, and Paul Tierney.
