Curtis Evans will perform at Riviera Theatre tonight, Nov. 5 at 9 p.m. Evans picked up a guitar and wrote his first song at age 15. He played in the rock group, The Void, from 1997 to 2000. In 2004, he formed Our Friends Electric, which has been performing throughout Chicago since 2006. Evans is influenced by The Beatles, Sparklehorse, and Townes van Zandt. Admission is $7.
Hip Hop Explosion with Skitzo, Grizzly Bear, High Capacity, and Zoo Band, with music by DJ Heavy Money, will fill the Riviera Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 9 p.m. Admission is $5 in advance, $7 at the door.
The second annual Holiday Wine Tasting will take place next Friday, Nov. 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For $15, sample a variety of wines that are perfect for pairing with holiday meals. Hors d'oeurves will also be served, along with a presentation of holiday offerings from local artists and merchants.
At 9 p.m., Matt Kelly will perform his acoustic, alternative, indie music. To listen to the soft, soothing sound that he creates, please check out http://www.myspace.com/listentomattkelly. He describes it as "a cup of coffee on a cold and snowy Sunday morning after a long Saturday night of blacking out, losing your girlfriend, and gaining a great sense of depression." Admission is $5.
West Michigan Noise! Concert series and 'Weekend Warriors' screening will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome; admission is $6. The event will feature The Penguin Collector, We the Sophists, Ghosts of the Great Lakes, Analecta, The New Scum, and Weekend Warriors.
