Fans frustrated by sold-out concerts at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park will find some relief next year as the popular venue plans to increase capacity by 200 guests. The project is spurred by the most successful Summer Concert Series season in the Gardens' eight-year history.
The project will feature a 3,511 square-foot building which will house concession and merchandise stands, additional restrooms and a box office window accessible from outside the amphitheater gates for last-minute ticket purchases and Will-Call pickup. Other features include an expanded plaza outside of the amphitheater, sound-mixing boards for improved sound quality and expanded parking by 94 spaces.
Construction will begin in late August and will end in spring of 2011. For more information regarding the upgrade, visit the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park website.
